For the past 15 years, Disaster Recovery Queensland (DRQ) has been a cornerstone in the community’s resilience, playing a pivotal role in aiding homeowners, property owners, and businesses across Brisbane in the face of natural disasters. DRQ’s mission has always been centered around providing timely, expert support to help individuals and businesses recover and rebuild after devastating floods, storms, and other natural calamities that frequently impact the region.
Floods have been a recurring threat in Brisbane, especially with events like the 2010-2011 Queensland floods and the 2022 South East Queensland floods. In these challenging times, DRQ stepped up by providing immediate assistance to homeowners whose properties were damaged or destroyed. DRQ allowed families to get back on their feet faster. They worked closely with insurers and local councils to ensure that homes were ready for repairs, limiting home and business health risks.
In addition to post-disaster support, DRQ has been actively involved in flood risk education and preparedness programs, educating homeowners about flood-prone areas and how to protect their homes better through floodproofing methods and insurance options tailored to Brisbane’s unique challenges.
