In March 2021, a series of intense low-pressure systems brought record-breaking rainfall to the Greater Sydney region, causing widespread flooding across Western Sydney, the Hawkesbury-Nepean Valley, and parts of the Central Coast. Thousands of properties experienced water damage ranging from minor roof leaks to complete inundation.

Events of this scale test every aspect of a disaster recovery operation — contractor availability, equipment logistics, insurer coordination, and project management across multiple sites simultaneously.

Our NSW teams activated emergency protocols as the rain system approached, pre-positioning equipment in Western Sydney and the Hawkesbury region. Emergency response focused on water extraction, emergency pumping, and roof tarping to prevent ongoing ingress. Full restoration teams followed within 24 hours of floodwaters receding in each area.

Throughout the response, our project management team maintained communication with affected property owners, insurers, and local authorities to ensure coordinated and efficient restoration across all sites.

It also showed that urban flooding in established suburbs creates complex restoration challenges involving heritage properties, strata buildings, and mixed-use developments.
